What makes our homes eco friendly?

  • Smart thermostat

    High performing thermally efficient homes

We create thermally efficient homes which are resistant to overheating. We do this through careful calculations and optimization of materials. As well as ensuring all our work is executed with craftsmanship and skill.

  • Untreated timber stack

    Sustainable materials

Our priority is using natural and sustainable materials such as timber and wood fiber. Not only are these materials renewable, they produce less C02 emission than traditional materials such as concrete and brick.

  • Blue sky with CO2 written to look like cloud

    Carbon efficient construction & materials

Our default building process uses screw piles and therefore no or limited concrete. Our timber frames also act as a CO2 reservoir.

We offer heat pumps and can advise on other eco-house features.

What is the process

Our process is very simple which should take some of the pain out of your house building journey.

  • If you have a design from your architect or one drawn yourself send it through to us. If not we work with a number of local architects and also have a number of standard designs we can work with.

  • Our price is £2,000 per m2. Compare what you are looking to build and it’s specification with our standard fit out and see if they match. If they do, great, that’s the price you’ll pay.

If they don’t match then put together a list of additions you want, their cost and send them through.

  • Via the website, email or an actual phone call speak to us and we can talk through your designs and requirements and confirm that yes, the price is actually the price.

  • Come and visit our friends at their timber frame factory for a tour . Separately visit our joinery workshop and we can talk through your kitchen and cabinetry.

  • Once you have secured planning and ordered your house we’ll get it cut in a couple of days before it’s due to be installed. Then in 6-12 weeks, depending on the size and weather we’ll hand over your completed home.

What is an Eco-house?

  • Broadly speaking an eco-house refers to any house that is built using materials that reduce its carbon footprint and has an overall reduction in energy needs. A ‘sustainable house’ similarly refers to a house that makes efficient use of energy and resources such as water and energy. It can also refer to the construction process and materials used when building. Often these terms are used interchangeably and there isn't an exact definition of them.

  • A carbon neutral home aims to offset any carbon emissions from the construction and operational running of the house by the incorporation of renewable energy sources such as solar or heat pumps. Using building materials which are thermally efficient such as double or triple glazing also help retain energy, keeping them properly warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

  • In contrast to the term eco-house etc a PassivHaus adheres to standardized guidelines set out by the Passive House Institute (PHI). To be a PassivHaus you need to be certified and have complied to the proper standards.

FAQs

Can you build without piles?

Yes though piles are our preferred solution both in terms of environment and speed. We offer an eco concrete option for the rare site that isn’t compatible with piling.

What if there is an unexpected problem during the build?

We’ll fix and pay for them.

Can you help us secure planning?

Yes, we can introduce you to architects that understand us and how we build and they can put together a package for your planning department.
